Sustainable. Beautiful. Everyday.

About.

MAINICHI is led by designer and maker Dearne Mills, whose work is shaped by a deep appreciation for materials, craftsmanship and the quiet beauty found in everyday objects.

Working from her studio in Ballarat, Victoria, Dearne creates handmade jewellery and accessories that explore texture, colour and material memory, using recycled leather, vintage fabrics, Japanese textiles, salvaged wood and repurposed beads.

With more than twenty-five years in the architecture and design industry, Dearne brings a refined sensitivity to detail, balance and form. This background influences every aspect of her jewellery practice, from the composition of a brooch to the tactility of a hand knotted necklace. In her work, elements of interior detailing and material experimentation naturally intertwine.

Sustainability is central to Mainichi as a creative philosophy. By utilising materials that already exist, the practice embraces limitation as a source of innovation and direction. Each piece is intentionally one of a kind, celebrating texture, variation and the character of handmade craft.

Mainichi is for those who appreciate meaningful objects, pieces made slowly and thoughtfully and designed to bring small moments of joy to the everyday.

Handmade for every day.

A woman with short, spiky hair smiles at the camera. She is wearing a dark outfit with a decorative feather-like accessory on her chest. The background includes a dark wall and a part of a colorful abstract painting.

"Sustainability is not just about the environment - it’s about how we live, how we treat people, and how we create things.”

— Eileen Fisher, Fashion Designer & Sustainability Advocate
